anCnoc Peter Arkle 4th edition Review

By Miguel in Tasting , anCnoc

I quite enjoyed the first and second batches of this whisky… so let’s try this 4th edition to see what they have done…

“I love anCnoc whiskies and this Peter Arkle has a little touch of sherry that turns it into something quite interesting”

anCnoc - Peter Arkle Limited Edition 4th Release

This dram has a gold-like color.

Nose (90): more than average. honey, peaches, salt, citrus, vanilla, spices.

Palate (90): powerful, oily. honey, vanilla, citrus, spices, plums, wood, toffee.

Finish (91): longer than average. honey, spices, raisins, vanilla.

So based on other whiskies I have already tasted I rate this anCnoc - Peter Arkle Limited Edition 4th Release with 90 points over 100.

anCnoc 22 years old Review

By Miguel in Tasting , anCnoc

anCnoc is a distillery that creates a great whisky but it isn’t widely known… and I think it has to do with the fact that they love to change their name from time to time.

“Great whisky! With that great fingerprint of anCnoc. But if you want to listen to me, get the 12 years old, it is better value for the money”

This dram has a gold-like color.

Nose (90): more than average. honey, vanilla, wood, citrus, floral. anCnoc's seal on this one. Unmistakable.

Palate (91): powerful, oily. honey, vanilla, citrus, spices, cinnamon, candies. Fantastic! but it doesn't looks like 22 years old. It is more vibrant and young.

Finish (90): longer than average. honey, spices, candies.

So based on other whiskies I have already tasted I rate this anCnoc 22 Year Old with 90 points over 100.

It is a great value whisky, but bang for the buck I would buy the 12 years old.

The Mermaid, the Witch and the Beauty: WTF Tasting 002

By Miguel in Tasting , Old Pulteney , Glenrothes , anCnoc , Glenury Royal

Ouch! After a fantastic beginning with the WTF Tasting, I am back with a second WTF blind tasting.

beauty-grandma-mermaid

Again, just in case you are new to this, my new way of tasting, I introduce my hand in the samples box and grab four or five samples of whatever it is inside: single malts, blended, rums, gins, vodka, whatever means whatever!.

What in my opinion makes this kind of tasting so awesome is the surprise factor. You have absolutely no idea of what you are tasting so only color and the beverage itself can make you rate it, no prices, no fancy bottles, no stunning statements, no marketing, just pure whisky passion. [NOTE to self: Buy opaque tasting glasses]

Well, let’s see what the f*** I tasted…
