Best from Ireland: #JamesonWhiskey Tasting

By Miguel in Jameson

Tasting Jameson’s range of whiskeys for celebrating St. Patrick day. A wonderful sweet and delicate pot still experience like only Irish know how to do. It is about time for a Jameson whiskey review!

Ouch! I am seriously lagging behind. I were going to do this tasting for St. Patrick’s day with Steve from The Whisky Wire but unfortunately was ill and couldn’t attend. So Miss Whisky stood up and manned this tasting with a lot of great whisky friends.

jamesons

To be fair, I tasted some of the Jameson on the old days when I began drinking whisky and the experience wasn’t nice or interesting at all. I am curious to revisit some of them about 1,200 whiskies later.

Happy St. Patrick day!

What? Not today? Damn! Hell, anyway… like if we need an excuse to have a good whiskey!.
You know St. Patrick, the holy patron of Ireland, the one that drove the snakes out of the island, the one that brought Christianity on Ireland and …

Enough writing. Let’s drink. As an old Irish saying says, “God invented whiskey so the Irish wouldn’t rule the world!”

As my contribution to the Irish whiskey let’s do a whiskey walk around Ireland. And as Sjoerd has told me several times I better state it right here and now: I love Single Pot Still Irish whiskey ( I just can’t stand their cheap blends ).

Jameson 2007 Rarest Vintage Reserve

By Miguel in Tasting , Jameson

“Overall floral. Pure Irish character with just a small note of newmake. Nice Jameson”

88
Jameson 2007 Rarest Vintage Reserve Blended Irish Whiskey
70cl / 46% - The ne plus ultra from Jameson, this has been blended with some of the oldest and rarest whiskeys from Jameson's maturing stock - one of which was a pot-still whiskey matured in a port pipe, which adds an extra fruitiness to the final assemblage. More than justifies the price tag - this is one of the greatest Irish whiskies ever bottled, we feel.

This dram has a amber-like color.

Nose (87): strong. honey, floral, vanilla.

Palate (89): powerful. honey, floral, spices, vanilla, citrus.

Finish (88): longer than average. honey, floral.

St. Patrick day is almost here: Don't be without whiskey!

By Miguel in News , Cooley , Jameson , Tullamore Dew , Knappogue Castle

Now that St. Patrick day is getting nearer, you need to get ready for it! Stock Irish whiskey before they drink it all.

Here are some suggestions for giving yourself a little pleasure in such relevant day:

I would sooner drink Chivas 12 years old than the cheapest Jameson or Tullamore Dew but if you are on a small budget and still want to do it the Irish way…
