Armorik Range of Single Malts Review

By Miguel in Tasting , Armorik

I have had a bottle of Armorik since I started collecting whisky four or five years ago but I never found a moment to open it. I even bought some samples and they are still on the samples’ box for the same reason… #lazyass so when I saw Armorik stand on The Whisky Show 2013 I though it was a pretty decent time to give them a chance.

armorik

I was introduced to the range of Armorik whiskies by their distillery manager, who explained me that they have recently reached an agreement with Gordon & Macphail to distribute their whiskies in UK.

I am not expecting anything awesome… but anyway… let’s taste them

Armorik Breizh

“Surprisingly creamy and malty but light... yes, I know, it is a blend... but still...”

83
Armorik Breizh
Half of cereals, half of Malta, double distillation in copper stills followed by aging in traditional oak barrels, all enhanced by the very special atmosphere of Bretagne. These are the goals that guide the Warenghem distillery. Excellent special edition to 42 °.

This dram has a gold-like color.

Nose (84): more than average. honey, floral, fruity, pears, vanilla.

Palate (83): powerful, oily. honey, vanilla, citrus, fruity, pepper.

Finish (83): longer than average. honey, citrus.

So based on other whiskies I have already tasted I rate this Armorik Breizh with 83 points over 100.

Well, I have to say that I was wrong. They are pretty decent stuff, with the Milleseme 2002 being really nice. No clue how much they will charge for it on UK but it is a good whisky.
