The Glenrothes 11 years old 1998 Tasting note

By Miguel in Tasting , Glenrothes

“A good Glenrothes with a good amount of sherry influence.”

Glenrothes 11 year 1998
A Glenrothes distilled in 1998 and initially aged in bourbon barrels before a finish in Sauternes casks from the premier cru winery Chāteau d'Yquem.

This was bottled in 2009 at the Bruichladdich distillery. A release of 1,700 bottles.

And it is one of the nicest Glenrothes whiskies that I have had. Very recommended.

This dram has a gold-like color.

Nose (88): strong. peaches, malt, honey, vanilla, peat, floral.

Palate (90): smooth, oily, powerful. peaches, malt, honey, floral, citrus, peat.

Finish (90): long. peat, fruity, wood, honey.

So based on other whiskies I have already tasted I rate this Glenrothes 11 year 1998 with 89 points over 100.
